Thank you for dropping in to My Fit Kitchen where our focus is helping busy people become inspired, create, and plan delicious meals while living their best life.
So after a year of unexpected setbacks and a loss of motivation I think that my Mojo has returned again. Myfitkitchen will focus will be on creating a plan that will be heathy and sustainable for my family, addressing our dietary needs and preferences, while implementing some good health practices that have taken a back seat in the last year. This is an invitation to come along on this journey with me; I know from personal experience that sometimes watching someone change something that seems to be scary and impossible can inspire change that is long lasting. Truthfully I am a little nervous about this new chapter in my life and sharing with anyone who wants to follow, but I know it will help me be accountable and maybe this journey can help some become there best self too.
My goals for this blog are this
1. Sunday I will post my family's meal plan for the week along with my goals for the week.
2. Saturday a recipe of the week will be posted; this will be a new to my family recipe found on Pinterest or a cookbook and will include pictures, if it was family approved, any change that I might make, along with ideas for substations that might work for different eating styles.
3. Wednesday I will post an update on how the week is going, adjustments I have made, This will not include a weight as I will not be weighing myself; this time around I am focusing on good eating and habits and not on the scale.
So welcome to my myfitkitchen
Meal planing can be a daunting task; when I started many years ago I would literary sit down with a pen and paper and stare at it for hours. Lucky for us now we have so many things to help us at our fingertips to make it easier. I can not imagine planing a meal or coming up with ideas like my grandmother did; going through tuns of cook books; she literally had a whole moving box full of them that sit on a shelf in my closet. Making a meal plan is really easy whether you are experienced or not. I wanted To share some tips for the new meal planners or maybe if you are experienced you might find something to make in more fun or less time consuming; either way I hope it helps.
💕MP💕
1. Find a time weekly when you can schedule in 30-60 minutes.
2. Make it enjoyable find a space you love and that is quiet. I love Saturday before my house wakes up on the porch with a cup of coffee and my AirPods. I also love to make mine fun so i use colored pens and stickers,
3. While you are planning make your shopping list or shop on line for groceries . This is such a time saver if you have everything you need you wont have to run to the store after work to pick up what you forgot. I also love ordering my groceries, it saves me money (no impulse buys) and saves me time no more 1-2 hour trips to the store.
4. Utilize Pinterest or any other sights you love to get inspiration from. I love Pinterest for the simple fact i can organize my plan or bank new ideas to try at a latter date.
5. Make a list or use a calendar. it is so nice when you can just glance at it or tell your family when they ask what is for dinner. I also have all my lists and goals there for the week i find it helps keep me on track.
6. Get the Family involved; I love to do different themes and have every one choose a country or style of food, but you could also ask them to choose what they are craving. Meal planning is a great skill to teach you kids along with cooking, that way when they are on there own living a healthy lifestyle will be familiar to them.
7. Variety is the spice of life; so don't be afraid to try new things. You may love it or hate it but at least try it. When you are not afraid to try something chance are you kids wont be either.
8. i recommend saving you plans for a couple of months that was if there is an off week which there will be from time to time you can just pull out the hold list and use that.
